"Wherever You Go" is a track recorded by Beach House. It was initially included on their fourth album Bloom (2012) as its hidden track, playing after the ending of its final track "Irene" and a six-to-seven minute silence. This song was written during the Teen Dream (2010) sessions, but wasn't finished up until the Bloom sessions. They stated that they loved the song but stated that it sounded much like the material found on their first albums.
Guitarist Alex Scally stated that they didn't want this track to be part of Bloom. Despite this, it was included as more of a "wink" at the end of the album. Beginning at around the 13:16 mark of "Irene", the song features calm organs and slide guitars, structured over a drum machine. The track was later included as the closing track of their compilation album B-Sides and Rarities (2017), additionally being one of the two songs previously known as hidden tracks included on this album.
Words from the band:
(4/4/13): “I think that was just a little song we had, and we thought it was a beautiful song but didn't think it was the kind that asked to be well-produced or anything. We thought it was just fine the way it was. It didn't need to become bigger. We also didn't want it really to be part of the album. We wanted it to be like a wink at the end of the record. That's how it ended up. It's just sorta like, this is who we are, even though we are making a big record, this is still who we are.” ~ Alex, Phoenix New Times
(5/16/17): “We always loved this song but thought it sounded too much like our old music. We didn’t finish it until 2011 during the Bloom recording session.” ~ Sub Pop
