The river: how your taste moves

Your genres as bands flowing left to right, so you can see what has been rising, what is fading, and when it changed.

WHAT IT SHOWS

Time runs left to right and each band is a genre. The thickness of a band is how much of your listening that genre was at that moment, so a band swelling is something taking over and a band thinning is something you have moved on from.

Bands are drawn in the colour the genre was voted, the same colour it wears on the map and on its own page. Two of them are not genres: other genres is everything too small to name, and the hatched band is where the catalogue has no genre on file yet.

SHARE AND FLOW

Share reads the bands as a proportion of the whole, which answers what your listening was made of at a given moment. Flow reads them as volume, which answers how much you were listening at all.

Clicking a band opens that genre’s page.
