Privacy

Risocast is a public record of what you listen to, so a lot of it is meant to be seen. This page is about which parts, and about the parts that are never public. Last updated 27 August 2026.

what you give us

An email addressOnly if you make an account. You can sign in with an email link, with Google or with Apple. If you use Google or Apple we are told your email address and nothing else, and we never see your password.

A handle, a display name and whatever else you put on your profileYou choose these. They are public.

Your logs, scores, reviews, lists and cornerstonesThe point of the site. Public, with your name on them, unless your profile is private.

MessagesBetween you and the person you sent them to. We store them so they can be delivered and read again.

You can rate records without an account at all. Those ratings stay in your browser and are not sent anywhere until you sign in.

what the app records by itself

What you playOnly if you install the Windows desktop app and leave the watcher on. It reads the title and artist of whatever your machine is playing and stores that with a time. It reads titles, not audio. Nothing is recorded from your microphone and no audio is uploaded.

That you are onlineSo the app can show who is about. It goes when you do.

Ordinary request logsOur host keeps the usual short-lived record of requests, including IP addresses, to serve the site and to stop abuse.

Your play history is never public and no other user can read it. A record’s page shows how many times it has been played across everybody, which names nobody.

who else can see any of it

SupabaseHosts the database and handles sign-in. Everything above is stored there.

Microsoft ClarityMeasures how the app is used. It is worth being plain about this one: Clarity records sessions rather than counting visits, so it keeps a replay of where you clicked and scrolled on a page. It masks what you type into fields by default. It sees your pages and your interactions, not your account.

Google and AppleOnly if you use them to sign in, and only to confirm it is you.

Spotify, Deezer, Last.fm, MusicBrainz, iTunes and DiscogsWhere the catalogue comes from. We ask them about records. We do not tell them who is asking.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is handed to advertisers. There are no ads on this site and no advertising trackers in it.

cookies

One kind that matters: the cookie that keeps you signed in. Without it you would sign in on every page. Clarity sets its own to tell one visit from the next. There are no advertising cookies.

deleting it

Any single log can be removed from the log itself. Everything at once is in the Edit menu, under “Clear my log”, which deletes every log, score and review you have.

To delete the account and everything attached to it, including your play history and your messages, write to privacy@risocast.com from the address on the account and we will do it.

If you would rather stay and be unreadable, setting your profile to private in Settings hides your log from everybody without removing it.

children

Risocast is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep an account for anyone under 13. If one exists, write to privacy@risocast.com and it will be removed.

changes, and who to write to

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, the date at the top changes and the change is described here rather than made quietly.
