Profiles and listening stats

Every listener gets a profile that turns what they play into stats: top songs, artists and albums for the last 7 or 30 days, this year or all time, plus a Taste tab that describes how you listen. It updates as you play, from every player at once.

What's on a profile

  • The header: your photo, name and handle, and what you're playing right now (or when you were last on and what).
  • Totals: listens, likes and buddies, and how long you've been on Risocast.
  • Anthems: up to twelve songs you pin as part of who you are (see Anthems).
  • Top: your most-played songs, artists or albums for the last 7 days, 30 days, this year or all time. On someone else's profile, a mark shows the ones you play too.
  • Taste: what your listening adds up to (below).
  • Recent: every play, newest first, with what you're playing now at the top.

The Taste tab

  • A headline such as “Night listener · explorer”: when you listen, and your strongest trait.
  • Your fingerprint: five scores from your recent listening. Consistency (how many days you listen), Discovery (how much is new to you), Variance (how spread your genres are), Concentration (time with long-time favourites) and Replay (how often you return to songs you know).
  • Genres: your top five, as a share of your listening, each coloured by its family.
  • When you listen: a strip of the 24 hours of the day, darker where you play most.
  • Taste journey: your listening as eras, from your first logged cover to your latest, with a line on how it moved (“You started on dream pop, went deep into shoegaze through 2025, and have been leaning slowcore since May 2026”).
  • This year: the last 52 weeks as a grid, with the total.
  • All-time favourites and a signature: the artist you're most loyal to, how many new artists you find a month, your peak hours, the song you have on repeat and your current streak.

Every player, not one service

Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music each show stats for their own app, mostly once a year. Risocast's profile counts everything you play on Windows and Android, in any player, and shows it whenever you look. See automatic logging for how plays are counted.

Public by default

Profiles live at risocast.com/u/yourname and share with a preview card, so friends can see what you play without signing up. If you'd rather keep your listening to yourself and your buddies, make your profile private, when you set up or later in Edit profile.

Questions

Can I see my all-time top songs?
Yes. The Top tab shows songs, artists or albums for the last 7 days, 30 days, this year or all time.
Does it work for Apple Music and YouTube Music?
Yes. On Windows Risocast logs any player in the system media controls; on Android any music app. The stats cover all of them together.
Can I hide my listening?
Yes. Make your profile private, when you set up Risocast or later in Edit profile, and only you and your buddies see your plays. Nobody else can find your profile.
How far back do my stats go?
To your first logged play. Importing from Last.fm adds your latest 1,000 scrobbles before that.

Risocast Help

A music log that fills itself in. It records the songs you play on your computer and your phone, turns them into your top songs, stats and a public profile, and finds people whose taste overlaps with yours.

Yes. The app and the website are free.

A song counts once half of it has played, or four minutes — whichever comes first. Songs of 30 seconds or less, and videos or podcasts over 20 minutes, never count.

On Windows, anything that shows up in Windows' media controls: Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Deezer, browsers, foobar2000, Windows Media Player and more (VLC, iTunes and MusicBee through their free media-controls plugin). On Android, any music app — it reads the same now-playing info your lock screen shows. You can also connect Spotify or import from Last.fm.

Yes. Plays are counted on your device and sent when you're back online, and the phone app opens without a connection.

It does the same core job — scrobbling, automatically — without plugins per player, and adds taste matching: see who listens like you and how much your taste overlaps.

Your profile and listening are public so people with similar taste can find you, unless you make your profile private (then only your buddies see it); your email never is. Nothing is sold and there are no ads; anonymous usage analytics (Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics) show what to improve. See the privacy policy for the details.

How logging works

On Windows, Risocast reads the system media controls, so any player counts: Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Deezer, browsers, foobar2000. No plugins.

On Android the app reads what any music app is playing (it's coming to Google Play). Anywhere else, connect Spotify or a Last.fm username.

When a song countsAfter half its length, or four minutes, whichever comes first.Tracks under 30 seconds are ignored.Offline plays are counted on the device and sent later.

Taste twins

See how much your taste overlaps with anyone's, and find the people who listen most like you. The match comes from what you both actually play, not a list of favourites.
